Jay Leno Leaves The Tonight Show

The late-night show with the highest ratings.  Is is good to leave on top, or was this forced retirement?  Jay is going to do his own new gig soon after a tiny break so he's not hurting for money.  I remember Johnny Carson, and it took me a little bit to get used to Jay Leno.  So I wonder how long it will take for Conan.

Do you think Conan will bring in his own people or what happens to the crews?

New Summer Fashion

Would you let your wife go around wearing this bra, or is it a bikini?  It made me do a double-take.

I think it's funny or at least a conversation starter!

Microsoft Releases New Search Engine BING

Microsoft has a whopping 8.2% of the search engine share trailing Yahoo at 20.4% and  Google at 64% ( They don't need the decimal).  What to do about failing miserably at all attempts at capturing a bigger share, but start a new search engine called bing.  One of these days Microsoft will realize that they've lost the search engine war...or maybe not.

One too many Taco Bell Burittos

It burned on the way going in...
...and on the way out!

Ex-soldier apologizes to Iraqi family for raping, killing

Steven Green was found guilty in U.S. District Court in Kentucky for raping a 14-year-old girl then murdering her, killing the parents and finally killing her 6-year-old little sister while he was serving in the U.S. military (Iraq  2006.).  Relatives came over and attended the sentencing.  Guess what he was sentenced to?  Life without parole.  As you can guess the relatives weren't happy with the sentence.

Green apologized and told the family he was sorry and that he knew the family wished he were dead.

I would think that raping and killing the 14-year-old would be special circumstances by itself.  I wonder why the jury couldn't come to a unanimous decision.  Oh, Green now states that the Iraq War is "intrinsically evil, because killing is intrinsically evil."

Group wants R rating for any film with smoking

Image of Anti-Smoking BillboardOne of my friends checks why a movie is rated a particular rating and goes over to imdb.com and reads about the scenes that may not be suitable.  A group wants movies with smoking rated "R."  Do you think that a film should be rated "R" because it has a character smoking? Or this this just dooming a movie to lower gross?

Rape Photos

Image of Detainee with Guard DogNew photos showing abuse/rape of detainees at Abu Ghraib are being kept from being released by President Obama.  The world was shocked when they saw the photos previously released but these new photos are much more graphic and are told that they would only serve to harm or inflame and already tense situation.

Do you think it necessary to release the photos?

Is Woody the #1 Pixar Character?

Everytime one of these top 10 lists come out I alway end up saying, "but what about "  This time someone has decided to rate the top Pixar Characters and Woody came out as #1.   Nemo didn't even make it on the list.

Do you agree with the list?

Condron.us

I noticed an increase in traffic this morning and noticed that Condron.us was the referrer.   So I clicked on the link and found that it's like a blogspot's "next" button but on steriods!

Condron.us checks for blogs that have been updated recently and even allows you to submit your site to place it in the mix.  You can adjust the time delay before showing the next blog and do stuff like bookmark, pause, and contribute via forums.  Check it out Condron.us It's really cool.

Man Pushes Man Attempting Suicide

The guy attempting suicide is at the top of a bridge when an angry man goes to the top and pushes him off. The distraught man lands in the giant airbag but apparently injures his arm and spine. I wonder if the authorities will charge the pusher!?

Smart Hackers

If you've ever seen the movie, War Games, then you''ll remember the scene where they hack into the school computer and change their grades.  Everything goes well.  But if you're these guys and can't keep your mouth shut then this what happens!

38 years isn't that bad.  Is the penalty too harsh?

Is this true?

Tyson's daughter dies

Mike Tyson's daughter Exodus Tyson dies after a treadmill accident.  So far the police have ruled it an accident and are waiting for results from the medical examiner.

I didn't even know he had a daughter but even more surprised he would name her Exodus.  I guess it is in the same line as another celebrity naming their daughter Apple.

Does this accident change how you feel about Mike Tyson?

No Smiling for DMV Driver's Licenses

I never liked when the DMV person would say, "smile" before taking my photo or renewing.  Now that more and more states are using facial recognition software to prevent identity theft, I don't have to worry about that.

Apparently, the smiles confuse the system by messing up the key points required to identify a person.  So far about 6,000 people have been prevented from getting a fake ID by this method.  Remember, no smiling!

Do you prefer to smile or have the serious look?

Cocaine Found in Red Bull

Small amounts of cocaine was found in Red Bull in Germany.  So now you know were it gets some of it's kick.  I wonder if the FDA will be testing the product here in the U.S.  Do you drink any of these high energy drinks like Red Bull, Monster, etc...?

Jon & Kate Plus 8

I was forced to watch the 5th season premiere of Jon and Kate Plus Eight.  I think mainly because of the affair that Jon had or is accused of having and the mean wife, Kate.  I don't know this but it was what I was told.  I could tell by the body language that there is no chemistry between the two.

Do you think that TLC is playing this up for ratings?  Does anyone really care?

North Korea Tests Another Nuclear Bomb

Does both Iran and North Korea having nuclear weapons scare you?  Or is everyone making a bigger deal out of all this than they should?

What should the world, U.S. or any other country do if either of these countries position these missiles in a aggressive stance?

Perfect Attendance

Stefanie Zaner from Maryland hasn't missed ANY school days.  Her perfect attendance is a pretty difficult feat to accomplish but does this really matter?

Same-sex marriage ban upheld by California Supreme Court

In November of 2008, California voters passed proposition 8.  The controversial measure passed by a vote of 52% to 48% and banned same-sex marriage in the state.

Today's announcement at 10:00 a.m. pacific time by the California Supreme Court with a 6 to 1 vote upheld this ban.  Basically, the majority won.  Both sides stated that they would appeal if the ruling didn't go in their favor.  An interesting note is that the 18,000 marriages that were performed prior to the ban remain legal.

What do you think about this?

Sonia Sotomayor Nominated for U.S. Supreme Court Justice

President Obama considered four women for the U.S Supreme Court spot left open by Souter and finally nominated Sonia Sotomayor.
Do you feel she is the best person for this position?
